Why You'll Love Air Fryer Pears
EASY - air-fried pairs are ready in 3 steps!
4 INGREDIENTS - just a few ingredients turn a simple pear into an elegant dessert!
NUTRITION - as a dietitian, I love air fried fruit to satisfy my sweet tooth. Pears are a source of fiber which is important for gut health. They also contain antioxidants that are important for overall healthy including brain health, Vitamin C and potassium. Since this recipe doesn’t use melted butter or caramel sauce, it has less fat and sugar than other dessert pear recipes. And I'd argue it tastes even better because the flavor of the fruit really shines through! I don't miss the sugar at all.
QUICK - your warm air fryer pears will be ready in 10-15 minutes. Way faster than it takes to make baked pears in the oven (about ⅓ of the time).
KID-FRIENDLY - this is an excellent healthy dessert that the whole family will love!
VERSATILE - whether you serve them with a scoop of ice cream, a little whipped cream or yogurt or eat them by themselves, caramelized pears are the perfect way to amp up your fruit game.
Ingredients
*This Air Fryer Pears Recipe is made with 4 simple ingredients. Below are some ingredient notes. Be sure to check the printable recipe card at the bottom for exact ingredient measurements and full recipe.
Pear - there are several kinds of pears and you can use any variety for this recipe. I use Bartlett pears because they are one of the sweetest pears and my grocery store always has them. According to Spruce Eats, Anjou Pears or Bosc pears keep their shape well when baked so either of those would be good options, too.
Pure Maple Syrup - a little bit of maple syrup to sweeten the pears and give them a caramelized taste.
Avocado Oil - I use avocado oil because it has a mild flavor and allows the sweet pears to shine through.
Ground Cinnamon - a little cinnamon ties all the other ingredients together.
Instructions
*Below are the instructions for how to make Air Fryer Pears with some visuals that I hope are helpful! Don't forget to check out the recipe card at the bottom for the full recipe.
Step 1: With a sharp kitchen knife, dice your pear into about ¾ inch pieces.
Step 2: In a small bowl, mix the diced pear with maple syrup, avocado oil, and ground cinnamon until coated evenly.
Step 3: Preheat your air fryer to 375℉ for 3-4 minutes. Place pears in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry pears for 10-12 minutes, shaking halfway through. Cooking time will vary depending on your air fryer. Pears are done when they are a golden brown and easily pierced with a fork.
Step 4: Add your favorite toppings and enjoy immediately or store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3-5 days.
Hint: Be sure to spread the pears in a single layer to let the hot air circulate. And don't forget to shake halfway through cooking.
Substitutions
- Sweetener - feel free to replace the pure maple syrup with a drizzle of honey or date syrup instead. You can also use sugar free maple syrup if you prefer.
- Oil - I use avocado oil because of the mild flavor, but you could use olive oil, a vegetable oil.
- Spice - replace cinnamon with pumpkin pie spice if you want!
Don't love pears? Trade them out for apples and make Air Fryer Apples instead!
Storage
Fridge: store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-5 days.
How to Serve Air Fryer Pears
Feel free to get creative with how you serve these! Here are some of my favorite ways:
- As a Wholesome Breakfast or Snack - Warm Air Fryer Pears are excellent with plain greek yogurt and your favorite topping like walnuts, slivered almonds or pumpkin seeds.
- Dessert - If you want to indulge a bit more, serve warm pears as a dessert! Scoop vanilla ice cream on top of the pears and finish with coconut flakes and a little extra maple syrup.
Expert tips
- If you're short on time, you can skip the preheating. It just won't cook quite as evenly, but I tested it and they still taste great.
- Be sure to spread the pears in a single layer to let the hot air circulate.
- To caramelize the pears evenly, shake halfway through cooking.
- Leave the skin on your pears for extra fiber.
