If you're a watermelon fan looking to satisfy your sweet tooth without added sugar this summer, this 3 Ingredient Watermelon Strawberry Sorbet is perfect for you! Trust me -- the sweetness from the combination of watermelon and fresh strawberries with a squeeze of fresh lemon is everything you need on a hot day in the summertime!

This Strawberry Watermelon Sorbet is perfect to make next time you have extra watermelon cut up. As a dietitian I appreciate a sweet treat without added sugar or dairy. No simple syrup, sugar syrup or coconut milk. Just fresh fruits!
This was inspired by my Strawberry Cottage Cheese Ice Cream. I wanted another frozen treat, but I was looking for more of a fruit-forward option. I was shocked at how amazing this tastes for how simple it is! Pair it with a nutritious dinner like my 20-Minute Turkey Taco Skillet or Egg Roll in a Bowl. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do. 😊

Key Ingredients and Substitutions
This Watermelon Strawberry Sorbet is made with simple ingredients. Below are some ingredient notes. Be sure to check the printable recipe card at the bottom for exact ingredient measurements and full recipe.
- Watermelon - Watermelon is high in vitamins A and C. It also has a high water content! Use a seedless watermelon for this recipe. You aren't likely to find it frozen, but you can easily freeze after cutting it in cubes.
- Strawberries - Strawberries provide vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants to support overall health. They also add a good dose of sweetness and pair perfectly with watermelon! You can buy fresh strawberries or find frozen strawberries at the grocery store.
- Lemon Juice - fresh lemon juice enhances the sweetness of the watermelon and adds a little bit of liquid to help it blend more smoothly.
How to Make Watermelon Strawberry Sorbet
Below are the instructions for how to make Watermelon Strawberry Sorbet with some visuals that I hope are helpful! Don't forget to check out the recipe card at the bottom for the full recipe.
- Step 1 - Freeze your fruit by cutting the watermelon into cubes and halving the strawberries. Add them in a single layer to a baking sheet and put them in the freezer for at least 3-4 hours. Watermelon has a high water content so it takes longer than some fruit to fully freeze.
- Step 2 - Once the fruit is frozen, add the fresh lemon juice and frozen fruit to a food processor or blender. Blend until smooth, pushing down the sides as needed. It will take 3-5 minutes to blend.
- Step 3 - Pour the mixture into a loaf pan or other freezer-safe container and freeze for another 45-60 minutes. Let the fruit thaw about 2-3 minutes before serving to make it easier to scoop!
Hint: To make this recipe even easier, use pre-cut watermelon and a bag of frozen strawberries.
Variations
One of the best things about this Strawberry Watermelon Sorbet is you can customize to your taste! Below are some ideas, but feel free to get creative.
- Popsicles - use popsicle molds to turn this sorbet into a popsicle!
- Citrus - intensify the citrus flavor by squeezing in some lime juice, juice of an orange or grapefruit, and an extra teaspoon lemon juice.
- Mint or Basil - watermelon pairs nicely with fresh mint or fresh basil. Feel free to add a bit of either to amp up the flavor!
- Sweeter - if you want it even sweeter, add some honey or your sweetener of choice. I personally think the watermelon and strawberry flavors are sweet enough!
Equipment
For this recipe, you will need a high-speed blender or a food processor. I have a Ninja Blender and love it. I've also used my KitchenAid Food Processor to make this recipe! To make it in the food processor, you may need to do 2 batches of blending.
Storage
- Freezer - This Watermelon Strawberry Sorbet should be stored in a freezer-safe container in the freezer and will stay good for up to 3 months. Be sure to cover your container with foil if it doesn't have a lid.
*The longer you store it in the freezer, the more likely it is to develop ice crystals so I recommend eating it within a month.
Expert Tips
- When freezing your fruit, line the baking sheet with parchment paper to make for easy clean up.
- It takes a few minutes to blend, so be patient! If it's not moving, turn the blender off and push down the sides.
- If you are using a small blender or food processor, you may need to do 2 batches of blending if it doesn't all fit.
- If it's too dry, add a bit more lemon juice or add some water.
Dietitian tip
Using fresh fruit is a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth - especially in the summertime when berries and melons are in season! But eating fruit by itself can be boring. Make it more fun and elevate your fruit game with recipes like this one. Keep it in the freezer for an afternoon treat or post-dinner dessert. 😊
